Join the Nestrans Board – Non-Councillor Vacancy

The Partnership Board consists of four Councillor Members from each of Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Councils, and four non-Councillor Board Members. A vacancy currently exists for a non-Councillor Board Member and applications are invited from interested individuals with the necessary aptitude, experience and ability to help shape the future development of the transport strategy and delivery at regional level.

One of Nestrans’ primary functions is to produce and deliver a Regional Transport Strategy (RTS), a 20-year vision providing a balanced framework ensuring transport develops to serve a growing and prosperous region. This year will see the creation of RTS III with a focus on the following key themes:
• Economic Prosperity
• Environment
• Health and Well-Being
• Equalities

Experience within (or a keen interest for) one or more of these sectors would be an advantage; in addition to a knowledge of transport and financial awareness. Whilst knowledge of working at Board level is a benefit, allowances will be made for the right candidate if they have passion for the subject and can clearly show us what they can bring to the Board. Board membership is not a paid role, however certain expenses can be met.
The successful applicant will be expected to attend up to six meetings a year with the possibility of an additional few informal meetings. Appointment will be for a period of up to end of October 2024, subject to review after three years, from the date of appointment.

Please contact Rab Dickson, Acting Director, 01224 346680 who will be happy to have an informal discussion with anyone considering applying.

If your application is shortlisted for interview, you will be required to meet with our Appointments Committee at the end of April 2019 to discuss your application.
