80 Dyce Airlink Festive Timetable

Nestrans’ Service 80 – Dyce Airlink will continue to operate its normal Monday to Friday timetable over the festive period.  It does not operate on Saturdays or Sundays.

Aberdeen’s Runway Extension Gets the Official Green Light

After years of detailed planning, the £10 million extension of Aberdeen Airport’s main runway has been given the green light. Following City Council approval and extensive local consultation, the Executive board of BAA have within the last few days confirmed the delivery plan to press on with the vital piece of local infrastructure. Work on the 124 metre extension to the north end of the runway will start in March 2011 and it is set to be complete in summer 2012. The process involves work on the foundations and extension …

The best of Scotland’s transport industry were honoured at the prestigious Scottish Transport Awards last night. The ceremony was held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow. Hosted by radio and television presenter Grant Stott, and now in their eighth year, the Awards recognise excellence, innovation and progress across all areas of transport. The top award of the night, Scottish Transport Local Authority of the Year, was presented to Fife Council. Aberdeen City Council Draft Bus Information Strategy Consultation

In accordance with the Transport (Scotland) Act 2001 and the Aberdeen Local Transport Strategy 2008-2012, Aberdeen City Council is developing a Bus Information Strategy for the City. During January and February 2010, an open consultation was held with members of the public and stakeholders on the state of existing bus information provision within Aberdeen, receiving almost 1000 responses.  The results of this process have been combined with a best practice review and in-depth research into all forms of currently available information in Aberdeen to prepare a Draft Bus Information Strategy, …

New Bus Lane from Aberdeen Airport goes live

Nestrans welcomes the newly installed bus lane on Argyll Road that will go permanently live from 0900 hours on Friday 12 November 2010.  This measure has been progressed from the findings of a study funded by Nestrans and BAA Aberdeen to identify measures to improve access and egress from the airport, particularly by sustainable modes, in the short term prior to the introduction of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route. The Chairman of NESTRANS, the transport partnership for Aberdeen City and Shire, has reacted with dismay to the contents of the revised Scotland Rail Utilisation Strategy (RUS), which was published today (Friday 15th). Nestrans has been short-listed for four awards in this year’s Scottish Transport Awards.  The Awards, in association with Transport Times and supported by the Scottish Government and Transport Scotland will be presented on 18 November 2010 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Glasgow. Hospital Direct bus offers a change in lifestyle

Stagecoach Bluebird has unveiled the new branding of service 59, which is now known as “Hospital Direct.”  The 59-bus route, which serves Northfield and Balnagask from Aberdeen city centre up to every 10 minutes, is now more recognisable as an alternative to those driving to and from work or visiting at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary at the Foresterhill site. www.realtimebus.com is a major step forward in providing accurate, up to the minute bus timetable information and is brought to you in partnership, by Nestrans and First in Aberdeen. The link, www.realtimebus.com will allow people to access real time information on all First services operating in Aberdeen. This will enable passengers to check that services are running to the scheduled timetable and have not been effected by roadworks, a road traffic accident or traffic congestion.
