The full public advertisement of the Nestrans unaudited annual accounts for 2017/18 can be viewed here.  The Nestrans Board will consider the unaudited annual accounts for 2017/18 when they meet on 20 June (the June Board reports can be viewed here) and on their approval the unaudited annual accounts for 2017/18 will also be available to view within the documents section of the Nestrans website within the Statement of Accounts heading.

Scheme to support older drivers launched in north east

A new road safety initiative has started in north east Scotland, aimed at supporting older drivers. Older drivers (65+) have been identified as a Priority Focus Area in the Scottish Government’s national Road Safety Framework; the related outcome seeks to ‘increase awareness, knowledge and capability of older drivers, and their families, to make informed choices about safe driving.’ Data obtained recently from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency reveals there are over 75,000 people aged 65 years and over who hold a driving licence resident in north-east Scotland (Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire …

Major work to double-track railway between Aberdeen and Dyce set to begin

Network Rail engineers will be working around-the-clock from mid-May to deliver a multi-million-pound upgrade to the railway between Aberdeen and Dyce. From May 12 to August 20 2018, the line between Aberdeen and Dyce will be closed to allow engineers to double the track through the area and carryout bridge upgrades and signalling enhancements. During the 14-week closure, hundreds of engineers will work thousands of hours laying a total of 12 miles of rail over 20,000 sleepers and replacing or refurbishing five bridges on the line. Operation Close Pass launched in North East

An initiative to highlight the safety of cyclists has been launched in the North East. Operation Close Pass was originally introduced in Edinburgh in 2017, and sees drivers who pass an unmarked police cyclist too closely being stopped and given advice. A specially designed mat is used for this which shows how much space a pedal cyclist should be given when being overtaken by a motor vehicle. Nestrans, has strengthened its Board appointing a new non-Councillor Board Member following approval from Scottish Ministers. Road safety group’s provisional figures show north east road deaths at forty year low

The number of people fatally injured on north east roads is at its lowest level since current records began in 1974, provisional road casualty data shows. The figures have been highlighted by Road Safety North East Scotland (RSNES), a partnership of public bodies promoting safe road use locally. Provisional statistics reveal that during 2017, 14 people died as a result of their involvement in a road traffic collision in the combined local authority areas of Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray. Press Release from Transport Scotland Two bidders to compete for £18 million contract Transport Scotland has announced that two bidders will be competing to deliver the A90/A96 Haudagain Improvement project in Aberdeen. The two shortlisted bidders are Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering Ltd and Farrans Construction. This next stage of procurement will see the two bidders enter into a period of competitive dialogue.
