Do you have the drive to help shape the future of North-east transport strategy?

Louise Calder 2019, News

Nestrans, the Regional Transport Partnership for the North-east of Scotland have today launched their search to find a new member to serve on the Board. Nestrans works with local government representatives and non Councillor members drawn from diverse backgrounds and with different perspectives to take a strategic approach to transport that supports and helps improve the economy, environment and quality of life across Aberdeen City and Shire.

A vacancy has arisen for a non-Councillor Board Member and applications are invited from interested individuals with the necessary aptitude, experience and ability to help shape the future development of the transport strategy and delivery at regional level. Board members are required to attend approx. six meetings a year showing that you can make a substantial difference with limited time contribution.

Councillor Peter Argyle, Nestrans Chair, “This is an exciting time to join the Board as we will be producing our third Regional Transport Strategy (RTS) this year.  It will focus on four key themes: economic prosperity, environment, health & well-being and equalities. We welcome applications from candidates that can show experience or a keen interest in these areas. The new Board member will help shape the future of North-east transport to serve a growing and prosperous region over the next 20 years.”

Whilst knowledge of working at Board level is a benefit, allowances will be made for the right candidate if they have passion for the subject and can clearly show us what they can bring to the Board.  Closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday 5th April 2019. More information on Nestrans and an application pack can be obtained here or by contacting Rab Dickson, Acting Director, 01224 346680 who will be happy to have an informal discussion with anyone considering applying. Board membership is not a paid role however certain expenses can be met.
