Adjustments to the local rail timetable that came into effect yesterday (Sunday December 13) have resulted in a series of benefits for passengers.
Central to the changes is the new 6.30pm service from Aberdeen to Glasgow. Previously departing at 6.35pm and making its first stop at Montrose, it now calls at Portlethen and Stonehaven.
It represents a new connection for travellers heading across the city from Dyce to Portlethen and Stonehaven during the evening peak, countering as it does the loss of an early-evening connection in Aberdeen as part of the previous year's timetable changes.
Nestrans welcomed the changes when they were first published by First ScotRail in October, as they serve to help meet its objectives of incrementally achieving faster and more frequent local rail services.
