As a public body, Nestrans is required by the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 to operate in an open and transparent way and make information available to the public.
This Act provides a right of access to information held by public bodies. It is enforced by the Office of the Scottish Information Commissioner who has the necessary powers to regulate compliance.
Our Freedom of Information Publication Scheme sets out our approach to meeting the requirements of the Act and the different types of information we make available. The Scheme has been approved by the Scottish Information Commissioner.

Open Data
The Scottish Government launched it’s Open Data Strategy in February 2015, adopting the G8 Open Data Principles. The Strategy seeks to create a Scotland where non-personal and non-commercially sensitive data is recognised as a valuable resource which is made available openly for use by all.
