Rail services returning to Kintore after almost 60 years

Rail services will return to Kintore after almost 60 years absence next Thursday 15 October 2020. Funded by Transport Scotland, Aberdeenshire Council and Nestrans, the £15 million station was built by Network Rail and has fully accessible, step-free access between platforms via a footbridge with lifts. The station, which will be managed by ScotRail, is also the largest electric vehicle charging location in north east Scotland, with 24 of the 168 spaces at the new transport hub fitted with charging points. Nestrans to Receive Funding for Transport Appraisal

Eight communities across Scotland are set to benefit from a share of the Local Rail Development Fund (LRDF) as confirmed by Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity, Michael Matheson. Nestrans, the Regional Transport Partnership for the North East of Scotland, have released their monitoring report for 2019. The monitoring report is designed to show progress against the objectives of the Regional Transport Strategy (RTS) which is delivered by Nestrans and its partners. The content for the proposed next Strategic Development Plan (SDP), which sets out the vision for long-term planning development in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, has been agreed by both councils. Nestrans welcomes Network Rail improvement works

Network Rail has announced they will be undertaking signalling work on the Aberdeen to central belt line between Cove and Muchalls. These works will benefit improvements to local rail services to be introduced as part of ScotRail’s Revolution in Rail proposals and improvements to Aberdeen to central belt journeys. The works will be ongoing at Muchalls and Newtonhill between 29 September to 5 October, and then at Portlethen and Cove between 20-26 October. Inverurie station extra car parking spaces open

Customers in Inverurie will now benefit from 36 additional car parking spaces at Inverurie station, as the ScotRail Alliance officially opened the new station car park extension today.  The work to complete the extension began in November and was carried out by Aberdeenshire Council, Nestrans, Luddon Construction and the ScotRail Alliance. The collaboration forms an early phase of the Inverurie Transport Interchange.
