Members of the public are being asked to share their views to support two studies which seek to improve transport accessibility and connectivity to and from Fraserburgh and Peterhead. Led by Nestrans, the A90(N) / A952 Ellon to Peterhead and Fraserburgh Appraisal is now inviting feedback from local communities and businesses, as well as those who travel in the area. £896,000 of improvements started on the Formartine and Buchan Way

An £896,000 programme of improvements to the historic and popular Formartine and Buchan Way has begun. Once completed, the works – which form a major realignment of the existing National Cycle Network (NCN) – will enable even more people to walk, wheel and cycle, along with equestrian use, from Newmachar to Auchnagatt and beyond. Largest north east travel study results revealed

The largest ever study of travel in the north east has shed light on how and why we choose to get around the area. Earlier this year, Nestrans commissioned a Comprehensive Travel Study, talking to over 1,000 residents across the region to gain valuable insights into travel behaviours in the north east. The study aims to develop a better understanding of travel patterns, barriers and identify gaps in knowledge, particularly with regards to equalities and social inclusion impacts. Almost 600,000 bus passengers a month are now experiencing better journeys because of the new bus priority routes in Aberdeen city centre. Two months on from their introduction, new figures from First Aberdeen and Stagecoach show the bus gates are already delivering measurable benefits for bus passengers across the region. Improvement works to cycle links in West Tullos to begin

From Aberdeen City Council Construction work to extend the cycle network through West Tullos to Wellington Road will begin on Monday next week (9 October). New cycle facilities will connect Wellington Road with the “Shell Path”, which runs between King George VI Bridge and Abbotswell Road, improving active travel options. Councillor Alan Turner has been appointed as the new chair of Nestrans. The chair will lead the Regional Transport Partnership, as work continues to deliver the 20-year vision for travel in the north east. Councillor Turner is a member of Aberdeenshire Council representing Stonehaven and Lower Deeside and serves as chair of the council’s Infrastructure Services Committee. Peterhead Transport Interchange reopens to customers following improvement works

From Aberdeenshire Council Bus services have resumed at Peterhead’s transport interchange following the completion of a series of improvements to the facility. Work on the project, arranged by Aberdeenshire Council and largely funded by Nestrans, took place over six weeks and has involved a range of repairs, upgrades and new additions to the Windmill Street facility.
