Update on A90/A952 roads corridor evidence review

Work to update and strengthen the case for improving transport north of Ellon to Fraserburgh and Peterhead has received backing from the Nestrans board, and the Aberdeen City Region Deal Joint Committee. Commissioned by Nestrans, consultants Stantec have now completed an evidence review of earlier studies on the A90(N) and A952 corridors. The original studies, completed in 2017, looked at ways to address road safety, journey times, and reliability north of Aberdeen. Funding secured for Denburn Restoration Project

From Aberdeen City Council Plans are to be drawn up to make an ancient stream flowing through the heart of Aberdeen more accessible to residents. The estimated £2.1 million Denburn Restoration project – covering approximately a 1.5 mile stretch from Maidencraig to King’s Gate in the west of the city – would also enhance the wetland habitat and increase biodiversity. CCTV for second set of pedestrian counts on Westburn Road/Hutcheon Street

Please note that CCTV will be in operation on Westburn Road and Hutcheon Street on Thursday 15 June 2023. In order to encourage people to make more walking journeys between Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and the City Centre, Aberdeen City Council have installed a number of benches on Westburn Road and Hutcheon Street. Celebrating the launch of north east bike recycling and reuse scheme

From Aberdeenshire Council Peterhead’s transport interchange is to undergo a £250,000 programme of improvements during the summer. Completion of Stonehaven Wayfinding Project improves travel experience around the town centre

Passengers arriving at Stonehaven train station will have an easier time finding their way to the town centre, thanks to the completion of new signage and an upgraded bus shelter. The Stonehaven Wayfinding project, led by Nestrans and Aberdeenshire Council, has improved the experience for visitors who walk, cycle or take the bus between the station and local attractions. Road safety research project commences in North East Scotland

A nationally-funded road safety research project is now underway in North East Scotland, with its key focus to identify the reasons behind the significant reduction in road traffic collisions and casualties during the ten-year-period 2011 to 2020. The three local authorities in North East Scotland – Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray – have all experienced major reductions over this period, however, the relative contributions of various factors behind the falls remain unclear. From Transport Scotland: The Scottish Government has awarded £200,000 to the North East Bus Alliance through the Bus Partnership Fund. This will deliver bus priority infrastructure on Market Street, Guild Street, and Bridge Street in Aberdeen city centre – reducing the impact of congestion on bus services and making journeys quicker for passengers.
