Nestrans launch search to fill board position
Nestrans, the Regional Transport Partnership for the North-east of Scotland have today (Monday, 6 November) launched their search to find a new member to serve on the Board.
As one of seven statutory Regional Transport Partnerships, established under the Transport (Scotland) Act 2005 to take a strategic approach to transport planning and delivery, Nestrans serve the administrative areas of both Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.
The Nestrans Board consists of eight Councillor Members, four nominated by each of the constituent Councils and four non-Councillor Members. The inclusion of the non-Councillor members help promote a range of perspectives around the table, as well as a detachment from local and national politics
The new non-Councillor Board Member will be joining the board at a pivotal time for transport in the north east; with the delivery of many major projects underway or nearing completion.
The new member will work alongside the existing Board to help shape the future development and delivery of the Regional Transport Strategy, which maps out how transport will support and deliver benefits to the area’s economy, communities, environment and quality of life over the next 15-20 years.
Councillor Peter Argyle, Nestrans Chair, “This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to assist in the strategic work of the Regional Transport Partnership. The successful applicant will be able to contribute to the continuing aspirations and operations of the Board whilst bringing fresh perspectives to matters.
“We are experiencing a critically important time for transport in the North-east; a great deal of infrastructure investment is underway and we need to ensure that we harness the benefits of these major projects and look to the future to ensure that our transport system meets the needs of our region.”
