Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route

The regional transport partnership Nestrans warmly welcomed today’s decision:

Director Derick Murray said: “The Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route is central to our vision of a modern transport system for the region and has a key role in enabling other elements of the transport strategy to be delivered, including major improvements to the Haudagain and the Third Don Crossing.

It will provide improved journey times and relieve congestion on both city and rural roads and link with existing and new park and ride sites, which will further reduce the need for traffic to enter the city centre.

The AWPR enjoys broad support from the public and the business community and we would hope that today’s decision means we can now start to look towards  construction and the integrated transport network becoming a reality as soon as possible.”
