~ Only direct public transport link between airport and city centre
~ Connections with bus and rail stations at Union Square
Holidaymakers and business travellers are set for a boost later this month as a new express bus link connecting Aberdeen Airport with the city centre gets set for take-off.
Transport group Stagecoach is to launch the Jet branded service from Monday 16 August, providing the only direct public transport link between the Airport and Aberdeen city centre.
Fast, frequent, direct services will operate seven-days-a-week and every 30 minutes for most of the day. Services will from around 0430 to 2230 Mondays to Saturdays and around 0700 to 2130 on Sundays with a journey time from the airport to the city centre of just 35 minutes.
The Jet 727 service will also connect with the bus and rail station at Union Square, offering further integrated onward travel.
Stagecoach Group Chief Executive Brian Souter said: “This new fast, direct service to Aberdeen Airport will run seven-days-a-week. It will offer holidaymakers and business travellers a greener, smarter travel option. So as well as saving money, it will help people reduce their carbon footprint.”
The new service will cost only £1.70 for a single ticket, £2.80 for a day return or £3.00 for a period return, which can used within 28 days.
Aberdeen Airport Managing Director Kevin Brown said: “This new service follows a lot of work between ourselves and Stagecoach Bluebird and I’m confident it will prove popular with our passengers.
“Making sure the travelling public have as many sustainable transport options as possible is one of our top priorities, and this just compliments a growing list of services for people travelling to and from the terminal.”
The JET branded vehicles and service will be officially launched on Tuesday 10th August at 2pm at Aberdeen Airport, with the service commencing at 0435 on the morning of Monday 16th August.
