Nestrans, through the Getabout brand, has launched a festive interactive travel guide which provides details about bus and rail services across the city and shire. The guide, which also provides information about routes, timetables and special festive services, is available on the Getabout website at www.get-about.com
The city is served by a comprehensive public transport network and the festive park and ride services will be in operation from this weekend (1st/2nd Dec), providing those who use the service with free parking outwith the city centre. The car park at Woodhill House will also be open as a park and ride facility with plenty of free parking and access to regular buses travelling down Westrburn Road.
Sunday Park and Ride services will operate from Kingswells and Bridge of Don to the city centre from this Sunday until Christmas. Up to two under-16s travel free on this service per fare-paying adult. Monday to Saturday Park and Ride services continue as normal.
Stagecoach Bluebird operates services from throughout the north-east to the bus station at Union Square and the Ellon Park and Ride is an ideal service for those travelling in on the A90 from the north.
First Aberdeen operates regular services across Aberdeen seven days a week.
The busiest shopping time at the weekend is from late morning to early afternoon. Spreading your day over this period, or doing your shopping outwith this time can help reduce traffic build-up and delays.
Variable message signs will be posted on the A90 and A944 advising motorists of road conditions in the city and encouraging them to use the Park and Ride services. The inner circle of variable message signs will also be used to alert drivers when car parks are reaching capacity.
