Nestrans, working in partnership with Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council, has produced a draft revision to its Freight Action Plan (FAP2) and is seeking the views of stakeholders on the proposed actions.
The Plan has been produced by the local consultancy firm, Aecom and identifies 46 distinct actions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of freight transport in and around the north east.
Over 29 million Tonnes of goods are moved to, from or within the area every year, 81% of which are transported by road, and the Action Plan aims to offer a more economically competitive freight sector, which responds to environmental targets by enabling the reliable and efficient movement of goods. A successful Freight Forum has helped to develop the Plan and will be consulted on the draft.
A copy is available on the Nestrans’ website here and comments will be welcome from businesses, other interested parties and individuals until the deadline of 1st December. Nestrans intend producing a final Action Plan before the end of the year and delivering on the actions over the next five years.
