The North-east’s regional transport partnership, Nestrans, has strengthened its Board by appointing a new non-councillor Board Member following approval from the Cabinet Secretary.

Further to a recent recruitment process, Nestrans was pleased to appoint Mr. Colin Allanach to the Board. Mr Allanach is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with a Masters in Business Administration. He has been involved in helping to develop cycling schemes in the north east and was instrumental in the recent establishment of the Grampian Cycling Partnership. The partnership’s aim is to aggregate the views of the cyclists and work in collaboration with delivery agencies to improve cycling opportunities and safety across the region.

Councillor Peter Argyle, Nestrans Chair, “We are delighted to welcome Colin to the Board during an important time for Nestrans.  We continue to work on our third Regional Transport Strategy (RTS), with the focus being on four key themes: economic prosperity, environment, health & well-being and equalities. I believe Colin will be a great asset to the Board, with his experience and strong interest in cycling he will help influence a variety of our themes as part of the RTS.”

Mr Allanach is one of four non-Councillor members on the Nestrans Board and has been appointed to the Board until October 2024.
