In the wake of the recent severe weather conditions, the Board of regional transport partnership Nestrans has agreed to allocate more than a million pounds of funds for the second year in succession to enable desperately required strategic roads maintenance to be undertaken throughout Aberdeen City and Shire. Public Exhibition for Proposed A90 (S) Park & Ride

A public exhibition of proposals for a new Park & Ride site at Schoolhill near Portlethen will take place on Tuesday 25 January 2011 in Portlethen Academy from 4pm to 9pm.  The event has been planned to coincide with a meeting of the Portlethen & District Community Council, at which a short presentation on the planned new facility will be given.  The meeting is open to the public and starts at 7.00pm.  The presentation will start at approximately 7.30pm.  The exhibition will be set up in the café area in …

Aberdeen’s Runway Extension Gets the Official Green Light

After years of detailed planning, the £10 million extension of Aberdeen Airport’s main runway has been given the green light. Following City Council approval and extensive local consultation, the Executive board of BAA have within the last few days confirmed the delivery plan to press on with the vital piece of local infrastructure. Work on the 124 metre extension to the north end of the runway will start in March 2011 and it is set to be complete in summer 2012. The process involves work on the foundations and extension …

The best of Scotland’s transport industry were honoured at the prestigious Scottish Transport Awards last night. The ceremony was held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow. Hosted by radio and television presenter Grant Stott, and now in their eighth year, the Awards recognise excellence, innovation and progress across all areas of transport. Aberdeen City Council Draft Bus Information Strategy Consultation

In accordance with the Transport (Scotland) Act 2001 and the Aberdeen Local Transport Strategy 2008-2012, Aberdeen City Council is developing a Bus Information Strategy for the City. New Bus Lane from Aberdeen Airport goes live

Nestrans welcomes the newly installed bus lane on Argyll Road that will go permanently live from 0900 hours on Friday 12 November 2010.  This measure has been progressed from the findings of a study funded by Nestrans and BAA Aberdeen to identify measures to improve access and egress from the airport, particularly by sustainable modes, in the short term prior to the introduction of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route. The Chairman of NESTRANS, the transport partnership for Aberdeen City and Shire, has reacted with dismay to the contents of the revised Scotland Rail Utilisation Strategy (RUS), which was published today (Friday 15th).
