Cycling development officer required to help pedal projects forward
A continuing partnership initiative between the north-east transport partnership Nestrans and sustainable transport body Sustrans Scotland, a vacancy is currently being advertised for a cycling development officer for the north-east. The aim of the role is to help deliver a comprehensive, coherent and high quality active travel network for the north-east.
The successful candidate will develop cycling projects and work with Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Council officers to prepare bids for cycle route development in the north-east and support Nestrans in delivering the Active Travel Action Plan for the region. They will also liaise with Sustrans, Cycling Scotland and other organisations to ensure that the north-east is contributing towards the national vision of 10% of journeys being by bicycle.
Nestrans Director, Derick Murray said, “This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate as they will get a chance to make a real impact on cycling networks and initiatives in the region. The appointment of a full time dedicated resource will allow Nestrans to maintain strong channels of communication with all cycling related partners.”
Sustrans Deputy Director for the Built Environment, Daisy Narayanan said, “This partnership is a great opportunity to develop the active travel network in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. The network will help to facilitate everyday journeys by foot and by bike and further develop access to the unique and beautiful landscape of the north-east. The appointment of the Cycling Development Officer will continue to build on the excellent work that has been carried out in the area by Nestrans, the local authorities and the people in the area.”
