Cycle Amenities
Aberdeenshire CouncilInstalling cycling parking for school and public use
Encourage update of active travel
Reduce barriers to cycling by providing safe parking and maintenance tools
Aberdeenshire Council plans to support active travel by installing cycle parking at schools and for public use in town centres and rural bus stops.
The aim is to encourage more active travel by providing better opportunities for bike storage either at destination or transit i.e. bus stops, stations, park and ride .
Aberdeenshire already has a high percentage of cycling to school trips and augmented cycle parking would provide a safe place for storage during the school day.
This project links to the long-term strategic aims in the Aberdeenshire Local Transport Strategy and supports measures designed to foster positive behavioural change.
By providing safe parking and maintenance equipment it will reduce some of the barriers to cycling and can lead to increased uptake of active travel.
