Remove barriers to cycling and develop social networks
The Grampian Inclusive Cycle Bothies project is a partnership led by Grampian Disability Sport and Sport Aberdeen, designed to make adapted cycling more accessible throughout Grampian. You can find the existing bothies in Aberdeen, Banff, Peterhead and Ballater, with more bothies in development.
The primary objective of the project is to locate cycling hubs within communities across Grampian, with the intention of bringing access to adapted bikes closer to the people within those community who need to use them. Improving access to cycling will promote all the health, wellbeing and environmental benefits of cycling to more people across each community.
The long-term goal is to have a range of bothies (hubs) established across Aberdeen City and Shire to ensure that location is not a barrier to accessing inclusive cycling. Each hub is being developed around the needs of the local community, looking to work with all ages.
The project will help remove barriers to cycling, develop social networks and promote physical activity.
