Recycled Bikes for All

Stella’s Voice aims to make bikes more accessible for everyone.  

This project looks to stop as many bikes as possible from going to landfill in Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City. Rather than go to waste, they hope to refurbish as many of them as possible can so they can be given to those who would not be able to obtain a bicycle otherwise.  

They currently collect donated bikes from recycling centres across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, or can collect by arrangement.

Trained mechanics work on each bike that is identified as being able to be fixed. They ensure it meets safety and quality standards resulting in bikes that are fit for use and able to be donated to those who have been identified as needing one. Each bike is also supplied with a helmet, lock and lights. 

For bikes that are not repairable or beyond economic repair, all usable parts will be harvested allowing for more bikes to be repaired in the future, thereby increasing the repair rate and less bikes being unusable.
