Scottish Cycling's Rock Up & Ride programme is a national initiative aimed at reducing barriers to cycling for disadvantaged and underrepresented groups. By providing free access to bikes and fun cycling sessions, the programme promotes health, resilience, and active travel. The project partners with local communities to tailor its delivery to local needs, ensuring maximum impact. In Aberdeen, the programme has successfully collaborated with Sport Aberdeen since July 2023, offering a bike library model, free cycling skills sessions, and led rides to boost confidence and familiarity with the cycling network.
The Rock Up & Ride project has positively impacted individuals in the region, helping them become more confident cyclists and promoting active travel. Scottish Cycling plans to continue its collaboration with Sport Aberdeen to develop a new bike library in Torry, complementing the existing facility in Aulton Pavilion.
