This project will support cycling across Aberdeenshire by expanding cycle parking, maintenance facilities and supporting infrastructure at schools, town centres, transport interchanges, council leisure facilities and country parks, and rural bus stops. Alongside new facilities, the project will provide information and promotional materials to help people plan local journeys and make greater use of cycling for everyday travel.
Funding will help build on Aberdeenshire Council's ongoing programme of cycle parking improvements, including the rollout of bespoke new cycle shelters incorporating maintenance facilities. By making cycling more convenient, secure and accessible, the project aims to remove barriers to active travel and support positive travel behaviours across communities throughout Aberdeenshire.
