The Bikery is a Community Cycling Centre in Huntly, open since 2022. The space combines bike retail, training, and workshop facilities, allowing The Bikery to refurbish and maintain bikes, sell them at affordable prices, and use the proceeds to overcome barriers to cycling in Aberdeenshire.
The project supports people of all ages in their personal development through hands-on work experience and delivering industry-recognised qualifications. It aims to develop a circular economy in rural communities, reducing the number of bikes reaching landfill through education, upskilling, and clear routes to recycling.
The Bikery provides cycling services to the community, employability opportunities, access to affordable active travel options, and reduces environmental impact for the people of Huntly and surrounding areas. It allows people to access quality new and used bikes, parts, and servicing.
The Bikery shop sells new and used bikes, parts, and accessories, while the workshop offers servicing, recycled parts, and repairs, managed by staff and volunteers. The space is also used by the community for educational visits, work experience, and extracurricular learning opportunities for local schools and groups.
