Move towards sustainable transport
Buchan Dial-a-Community Bus is an award-winning transport charity based in Maud. With support from Nestrans People & Place funding, the charity provides the THInC (Transport to Healthcare Information Centre) service in Aberdeen.
Operating Monday to Friday between 08:30 and 17:00, the service offers pre-booked, door-to-door transport, coordinated through THInC. Bookings can be made up to two weeks in advance, ensuring planned and reliable access to care.
The service enables individuals to attend essential health and social care appointments in the city and is designed for those who are unable or would experience significant difficulty using conventional public transport.
Drivers assist from the passenger’s door to the vehicle and onward to their destination, ensuring safe and dignified travel. This tailored approach removes barriers to access and helps individuals remain independent within their communities.
The service is moving towards a more sustainable model, with three electric mini-buses added to their fleet earlier this year.
Testimonial
“I have sight issues and the drivers always help me onto the bus and help me up the ramp or into the lift when I go to the Health Village. It's an excellent service. I’d be stuck without it.”
