People and Place Programme
Supporting walking, wheeling & cycling projects across the North East
Each of Scotland’s seven Regional Transport Partnerships (RTPs) receive direct funding through Transport Scotland's People and Place Programme to encourage more people in Scotland to walk, cycle or use other active modes of transportation.
As the RTP for Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, Nestrans administer this fund to local organisations across the north east to support projects that promote active travel and sustainable travel.
The goal is to reduce car usage and promote walking, wheeling, and cycling for shorter everyday journeys. Nestrans aims to maximise opportunities for increased modal shift within communities.
Following a strong response to our call for Expressions of Interest, Nestrans submitted its application to Transport Scotland and received a grant award total for 2026-27 of £1,729,261
