Road Safety & Causality Reduction

Prioritising road safety and casualty reduction by working in
partnership with Police Scotland, local authorities, and others.

One of the six key priorities in our current Regional Transport Strategy is that zero fatalities on the road network to be the norm by 2040. . This is not to say that reducing serious and slight casualties is less important, but measures to reduce fatalities should contribute to reducing the number and severity of road traffic collisions generally.

Nestrans is a member of the Road Safety North East Scotland (RSNES) partnership along with Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeenshire Council, Moray Council, NHS Grampian, North Safety Camera Unit, Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. The Nestrans Director is the current Chair of RSNES.

The partners promote road safety and road casualty reduction across the North East of Scotland. Together we seek to achieve ambitious targets for reducing casualties  and eradicating fatalities in our transport systems.

There is a particular focus on vulnerable users including pedestrians and cyclists, and joint road safety campaigns from RSNES partners and Getabout.
