A944 Active Travel Route Study

About the study

Nestrans has commissioned AECOM to explore options for a new active travel route on the A944 between Westhill in Aberdeenshire and Kingswells in Aberdeen. The study is being progressed in line with national, regional, and local policy objectives to increase levels of active travel and reduce private car journeys.

The ultimate objective of the study is to provide recommendations to inform the implementation of a continuous active travel route for walking and cycling between Westhill and Kingswells.

From the 17th May until 11th June 2021, we invited feedback on the three options to help make sure that the final route will meet the needs of all users.

The consultation has now concluded and we will provide updates as the study progresses.

The three options, all of which would be segregated, include an ‘on-line’ route following the A944, as well as possible paths north and south of the carriageway that could also connect the Prime Four Business Park, and Park & Ride facilities.
