A full-size Aberdeen Rapid Transit (ART) demo vehicle will be unveiled today (Thursday, 4 June 2026) in Broad Street, giving the public a first look at what a future mass transport system could look like in the North East. The vehicle, which is on loan from Irizar e-mobility, has been branded in ART project colours and will visit locations across the region over the next eight days. Public Share Their Views On Aberdeen Rapid Transit Proposals
The results of a six-week engagement programme on the proposed development of Aberdeen Rapid Transit (ART) have been published. The engagement for a proposed mass rapid transit service took place between September and November last year and featured a number of face-to-face events across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, and an online event. All participants were encouraged to complete an online survey. The online survey was further supported by pro-active market research which asked the same questions. This used a database for Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to ensure a demographic and locational balance. …

Regional Transport Partnership, Nestrans, has joined Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire councils in endorsing progress on the proposed Aberdeen Rapid Transit (ART) system. The Strategic Business Case for ART was reported to the June meeting of the Nestrans Board and follows presentations to Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council earlier this month. Members of the public are being asked to share their views to support two studies which seek to improve transport accessibility and connectivity to and from Fraserburgh and Peterhead. Led by Nestrans, the A90(N) / A952 Ellon to Peterhead and Fraserburgh Appraisal is now inviting feedback from local communities and businesses, as well as those who travel in the area. Work to update and strengthen the case for improving transport north of Ellon to Fraserburgh and Peterhead has received backing from the Nestrans board, and the Aberdeen City Region Deal Joint Committee. Commissioned by Nestrans, consultants Stantec have now completed an evidence review of earlier studies on the A90(N) and A952 corridors. The original studies, completed in 2017, looked at ways to address road safety, journey times, and reliability north of Aberdeen. Nestrans, the regional transport partnership for the North East of Scotland, has commissioned work to review and update previous studies on the A90(N) and A952 Ellon to Peterhead and Fraserburgh corridors.
