A full-size Aberdeen Rapid Transit (ART) demo vehicle will be unveiled today (Thursday, 4 June 2026) in Broad Street, giving the public a first look at what a future mass transport system could look like in the North East. The vehicle, which is on loan from Irizar e-mobility, has been branded in ART project colours and will visit locations across the region over the next eight days. A full-size demonstrator vehicle will visit the North East from 4 to 11 June 2026, giving people the chance to see, step aboard and experience the type of vehicle that could form part of a future rapid transit system for the region. A public engagement seeking views of the next stage of the proposed Aberdeen Rapid Transit (ART) launches today, Tuesday 30th September. Councillor Alan Turner has been appointed as the new chair of Nestrans. The chair will lead the Regional Transport Partnership, as work continues to deliver the 20-year vision for travel in the north east. Councillor Turner is a member of Aberdeenshire Council representing Stonehaven and Lower Deeside and serves as chair of the council’s Infrastructure Services Committee. The North East of Scotland Bus Alliance has been successful in its bid for £12 million from Transport Scotland’s Bus Partnership Fund.
